Open House and Unique Handcraft Fair In The International District
On Friday May 2, 2014 from 10.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. at PB & J Family Services, the women and girls of New Mexico Global Pathways a micro-enterprise project of Immigrant And Refugee Resource Village Of Albuquerque will present an open house which will feature unique handcrafted beautiful and useful items such as necklaces, rag rugs, bracelets, garments, decorative pillows, tote bags and scarves made by the women of New Mexico Women’s Global Pathways. All sales will directly benefit the artists.
Venue: PB&J Family Services, 209 San Pablo SE, Albuquerque, NM, 87108
After the women lost their work space last year, PB& J opened its doors this January for the women to have a free safe and welcoming space where they receive free training in English, sewing, beading and weaving to improve their livelihoods. There aren’t many requirements for women who want to join free program of NMWGP—no income level is necessary. As long as people are willing to get involved with the program, help organize events and care for the space, they’re welcome.
Admission to the craft fair is free, but monetary donations will be accepted to help the women purchase materials such as fabrics, which they need in preparation for a fashion show /sales event coming up at the end of August this year as part of the New Mexico Black Expo economic empowerment event.
NMWGP’s effort is critical for helping empower immigrant, refugee and other New Mexico hard to rich and at risk persons to better outcomes – health-wise, financially, language acquisition, cultural preservation and celebration.

As Immigrant And Refugee Resource Village of Albuquerque celebrates the past 7 years we look to recognize the accomplishments and contributions that African and other world refugees and immigrants make to their new homes in New Mexico as well as to their countries of origin. We also invite and recognize those who continue to advocate on behalf of African and other world refugees and immigrant causes locally, nationally, and globally. The Village Feast brings together a diverse group of individuals for an evening of entertainment, a festive meal, and an opportunity to honor those who have helped to inspire and make a difference in the lives of African, Asian, Middle Eastern and other global newcomers.
The feast also provides an opportunity for refugees, immigrants and community members to educate each other about other areas of the world. It is also an opportunity to meet and welcome newly arriving families.
Artisans of New Mexico Women’s Global Pathways will sell their handicrafts such as ethnic garments, other accessories, bags and jewelry.
